Honda Goldwing Owners Club of Ireland will be holding their 31st International Treffen at Elverys Mc Hale Park in Castlebar from the 20th to 23rd August 2015.
This will bring 250 to 300 Honda Goldwing Motorbikes from all over Europe. They always attract many overseas visitors to their Treffen from other GWEF member Clubs. They also have a large attendance of their own members and their families. It will bring up to 500 people to Castlebar many of which will arrive and tour the area prior to the event especially the overseas visitors.
Parade of Nations: Taking place on Saturday afternoon. A highlight for many, when the bikes parade with all the national flags flying it’s a great opportunity for the ‘locals’ to view the bikes and take lots of photos. The bikes will park at a prearranged location giving a chance for people to have close look at the bikes and chat to the owners.
Light Parade: Taking place on Friday Night through the town. As its name implies this gives the attendees an opportunity to ‘show-off’ their bikes many of which are bedecked with multicoloured lights some of which change colour or tempo to match the music from the bikes. The bikes will park at a prearranged location giving a chance for people to have close look at the bikes and chat to the owners.
Scenic runs: The convoy of motorcycles ride a scenic route through local villages and towns around the County on Friday and Saturday. The spectacle of the bikes passing through is always well appreciated. These convoys are always well marshalled by our own members and have Garda escorts.
They will also be arranging entertainment on three nights. They will be using local entertainers as much as possible. They hope to have a Traditional Music and Dance on Saturday night. They will be taking part in the St Patricks Day Parade to give a flavour of the event.
